‘Chess for hawks’ wint Amerikaanse prijs
Met regelmaat krijg ik een mail van New in Chess, waarin de mensen van New in Chess vertellen dat ze een boek van New in Chess heel goed vinden. Nou ja, dat is natuurlijk normaal, een uitgeverij die een eigen boek aanprijst. Gelukkig wordt hun oordeel vaak bevestigd in een recensie.
Vandaag kwam het bericht dat het boek ‘Chess for hawks’ door een vereniging van Amerikaanse schaakjournalisten is uitgeroepen tot het beste instructieve schaakboek van 2017. De VS is nu een wereldtopland (drie toptienspelers), maar is in de breedte al veel langer een groot schaakland en een groot afzetgebied voor New in Chess. Het oordeel van de Amerikaanse journalisten mag dus heel serieus genomen worden.
In plaats van een objectieve recensie laat ik hieronder New in Chess zelf aan het woord, bij monde van directeur Allard Hoogland. In dit geval mag de uitgever terecht trots zijn op zijn boek.
